I write this blog to express how it feels to be a part of a big team, albeit in a small way. I am talking about the response of the STREET PROVIDENCE in reaching out to thousands of homeless, hungry, and helpless people who were affected by the devastating flood in Assam. This team of committed people organised themselves; made a fervent appeal to willing benefactors in Goa to come forward and help them reduce the pains of thousands in some of the worst affected areas. Their tract records stood them in good stead – there were no signs of distrust. Instead, people came forward chipping in with whatever they wish to contribute. Within days, the Street Providence, though homed in far-away western shore of India, began working in the affected areas through their new-found Coordinators. My only role was connecting them with ‘Like-minded’ people in the eastern state of Assam – therefore, I am like a pebble in a massive ocean shore. I feel great! It gives me an inexplicable sense of fulfilment.  

This is not the first time this organisation had wiped the tears of people in agony. In 2023 when thousands were displaced in Manipur on account of the ethnic violence, they made sure that several truck-loads of materials reached the relief camps. To them, the three thousand-plus kilometre that separates Manipur and Goa seemed insignificant as they connected hearts that were physically set apart. They are doing it again this time as well.

I can’t be more grateful to my destiny for making me a small part of this big effort towards the welfare of suffering mankind.
